Sequential Batch and Continuous Flow Reactors

Generally we install two different types of treatment plant, sequential batch reactors (SBR's) and continuous flow reactors (CFR's).

Both setups are custom made and we always build in a loading factor which means we allow for busier times and also allowing for possible expansion of your property.

Sequential Batch Reactors

The sequential batch reactor is designed to provide full biological treatment to sewage produced at a household or commercial residence.

We can design the plants from either 6 population up to 100 population situations.

The SBR treats the effluents to a very high standard (normally to 15mg/litre suspended solids and 10mg.litre BOD) which is suitable for discharging directly into a watercourse.
Benefits

  • Unrivalled effluent quality
  • Reduces main pollutants including ammonia by 96%
  • Reduces phosphates by 88%
  • Batch system eliminates peak surges
  • Controlled by an integrated programmable control unit
  • Automatic " Holiday Mode" aeration cycle
  • Powered only by a small air compressor
  • Gives off little smell
  • Very little noise

The sequential batch reactor works by drawing in sewage every 12 hours from the septic tank. This new sewage will be aerated for a period of time before being discharged into a watercourse. The sample of the discharge is so clean that often you would not be able to tell the difference between the sample and normal water!

At the bare bones of the SBRprocess is aeration and in brief the air acts as a catalyst for the bacteria in the sewage which then eat the sewage more effectively and thus this cleans the water.

Continuous Flow Reactors

A continuous flow reactor (CFR), is designed to provide full treatment to sewage in a normal domestic environment. This system is similar in principal to a sequential batch reactor, the only real difference is there can be more advantages to the CFR in abnormal loading conditions.

Benefits and features

  • Very little noise
  • Very little smell
  • Powered by small, silent air compressor
  • No electrics in tank
  • Fully recyclable material
  • Corrosion resistant

The levels in the tank can't get overloaded because it is a gravity based outlet and not batch fed.
